The Z™ is proud to support dial 911 and 911vrs.tv
ZVRS now accepts emergency calls made to 911 through its video relay service. To make a 911 call, just call 911 from your Z videophone. From a different videophone, add 911VRS.tv to your address book.
In case of emergency, just dial 911 or click on “911VRS.tv” in your address book. When ZVRS receives a call through 911 or 911VRS.tv, the next available video interpreter (VI) will answer. You will be asked to verify your name, your address, the location of the emergency, and the nature of your emergency. The VI will then contact an emergency response center in your area, and relay your information immediately. If your call is disconnected, the VI will call you back.
If you are unable to reach ZVRS to make a call to 911, please dial 911 from a TTY or dial 911 from any phone and leave the headset off the hook. The Z™ supports the Federal Communications Commission’s decision to make 911 calls accessible through video relay service for all deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
WARNING: Please be aware that, currently, some numbering limitations of VRS-based 911 video calls may prevent automatic referral of your location information to 911 emergency authorities. The resulting need to gather this information and convey it to emergency responders manually increases the amount of time for these calls, as well as the risk of error. For this reason, if you do not have a registered 10-digit telephone number, or reside in an area where a geographically appropriate telephone number could not be readily provided to you, The Z™ recommends for you to dial 911 from a TTY or use a traditional TTY relay services to make 911 calls.
